Outback™ Eclipse

Now available: Outback™ Eclipse

Because black is the new black.

The Outback™ has always been our most popular knife, and the most upgraded throughout its lifetime. Whenever we find a way to make it even slightly better, those changes tend to inevitably end up in the next production run. However, all along this development cycle, one recurring theme kept coming up - granted, mostly from people who had never used one, but it's a valid point nevertheless.

What if we didn't just offer improvements... but a choice?

Well, that choice is here today. Meet the Outback™ Eclipse - the proven Outback™ design in 1095 carbon steel and all dressed in black. The handle is all leather and dyed through in deep black. It comes with the same improved Mark II sheath design as the latest classic Outback™, only in black. The solid brass guard and pommel feature a high gloss polish, and the 58-59 RC heat treated blade guarantees it's every bit as rugged and dependable as its stainless steel sister we all know and love. It may look slightly more fashion conscious and you might find yourself oiling it a bit more often, whether it's entirely necessary or not... but it's still guaranteed not to slip on a turtleneck and wander off to sip a latte when there's work to be done.

Outback™ Sheath Mark II

Now Available: New Improved Outback™ Sheath Mark II

This completely redesigned sheath comes as standard on all new production Outback™ knives in 2016. It is also available separately as an upgrade or replacement for existing owners.

The original Outback™ sheath was always pretty good for its time, but over the years it has been getting increasingly eclipsed by our later models. Now, we don't exactly subscribe to the idea of knowing when to stop, so our improvement program eventually came up with a completely new design - bigger, better and more badass in every conceivable way, not to mention several times the cost to produce. As this second generation model completely transforms the Outback™ package and translates to a slightly higher MSRP for new model knives, we figured it would be only fair to make it available separately so existing owners can upgrade without purchasing a new knife.

Key improvements:
- Bigger, stronger, more rigid construction: up to 50% heavier than early model
- Full hand braided leather edge
- New, more distinctive tooled crocodile skin pattern
- 2" longer, wider and heavier shank and belt loop allows the knife to sit lower on the hip
- Longer and heavier retention strap now goes clear across the knife, making the snap button much easier and faster to engage and disconnect
- Longer honing steel sits in a separate leather tube, braided into the sheath's construction rather than formed from the same leather piece
- Bigger, completely redesigned "Croc tooth" ornament pieces that actually resemble crocodile teeth

The Walkabout™

Now available: The Walkabout™

Another one that's been a long time coming - the perfect companion or just a slightly scaled back alternative to our long-standing flagship, the Outback™. The Walkabout™ packs all of the strength and balance of its bigger brother in a lighter, more convenient format that's a lot easier to carry all day, every day. Fans of the original will feel right at home with the stacked leather handle, solid brass grip-enhancing pommel and guard, and the classic lines of the heavy stainless steel blade. Featuring the improved crocodile skin pattern, sharpening spike and bone decorations, the newly designed heavy leather sheath is also a perfect match for the Outback™'s distinctive styling.

It's not all about being a mini-Outback™, though - if you can call an 12.5" knife mini-anything, that is. The Walkabout™ is easily one of the most utilitarian, no-nonsense hunting / general purpose knives out there, and the classic looks and all natural materials are sure to appeal to all outdoorsmen, collectors and anyone just looking for a damn fine bowie that does exactly what it's supposed to. We have been regularly asked to produce something like this for years now, but we chose to take the time and get it right rather than just scale down the existing design. This is a knife that will stand on its own merit and happily go toe to toe with anything in its size class.

The Mistress™

Now available: The Mistress™

Here's one that we have been working on for quite a while. The mission was simple: push the limits and make the biggest, meanest blade that can still be reasonably called a knife, without compromising balance and usability in the slightest. To accomplish this, we started with the dimensions and basic lines of a colossal vintage Bowie dating from around 1858 and started hammering out prototype after prototype until it looked and behaved exactly like we wanted it. Not the easiest or fastest development process in the world, but with a knife this size you just can't slap something together in a CAD package and expect it to work. You have to feel it to know when you got it just right.

The Mistress™ is our first curved back design, putting even more mass behind the arc of the blade right where it counts for unprecedented cutting and slashing power. To complement the shape we gave it a distinctive coffin handle and a massive S-style handguard machined from a monolithic block of solid brass. In a slight twist, during development we decided to reverse the S to a style more commonly found in swords of the period. When you hold it, you'll know why - in this size class, it just works better that way.

Finally, we contained this beast in our signature heavy leather scabbard patterned to match our very successful Toothpick™. No, we don't know why anyone would need to carry them as a pair, but if you're going to carry one in the first place, "reasonable" is probably not a concept you spend a great deal of time worrying about. In case you missed it, this is one hell of a knife even by our standards.

The Bushmate™

Now available: The Bushmate™

With the large and extra large hunting knives firmly covered, we turned our attention to detail work. There's a lot to be said for bringing enough knife for the job, but sometimes there's no substitute for the precision of a moderately sized blade that doesn't extend too far from your grip. We feel this type of knife is all about finesse and control, so we gave it just that: an unshiftable grip and plenty of surface for your thumb and index finger to keep the knife exactly where you want it. Coupled with a classic, proven blade design and gently curving, tapered back for extra smooth gliding properties this knife doesn't just feel like an extension - it feels like a natural part of your hand.

The rigid leather sheath ensures smooth one-handed retrieval and stowing, and places the knife at a natural height where it can ride all day long with perfect comfort. Classic decorative braiding, antique finish and embossed BM logo complete the style to make an ageless package you can wear with pride in any hunting party.

The Toothpick™

Now available: The Toothpick™

Now here's something a bit special: with a nice range of hunting knives and quick, agile fighting blades already in production, we set out to prove that size and finesse aren't mutually exclusive. To us, nothing says it better than James Black's ageless Arkansas toothpick designs - dedicated fighting knives with unparalleled reach and destructive potential, while sacrificing nothing in speed, utility and precision.

We took the basic concept and gave it our trademark touch of classic styling and modern durability, with rust resistant materials and tough leather that feels as good as it looks. This isn't a replacement for a crowbar or an axe - it's a purebred fighting knife with the heft to get stuff done and the balance to make that weight all but disappear in your hands when you pick it up. We didn't want to go overboard with cutting edges five inches off the centerline and sharp corners all over the place, opting instead for a classic style that feels like it was molded to your hand and gives no surprises when you connect with something. For a finishing touch, we gave it an extra large, distinctively styled handguard and ricasso that give you real options between extreme reach and maximum agility. And when we say extreme, we kinda mean it. With an overall length of a whopping 16 1/4", the next step up would be a short sword.

Delivered with an antique look black-brown scabbard with classic old western style floral pattern, this knife proudly shows off its heritage and won't look out of place on any old west aficionado's gunbelt or as part of a modern hunter's toolkit.

The Razorback™

Now available: The Razorback™

We have seen a lot of heavy blade style hunting knives that got it almost right. In fact we've seen so many that we finally made it our mission to remove the "almost" part and see what this style is really capable of. Enter the Razorback™ - with all the features that worked and none of the awkward blockiness often associated with this kind of knife. Not satisfied with making yet another slab of metal with as many sharp angles as you can fit in 12 inches of steel, we elected to give it the pleasing curves and traditional materials our customers have grown to know and love in our other products. This one feels even better than it looks!

The back of the blade has a gentle downward curve for easy skinning and a bone cracker cut to avoid accidental piercing and to provide help in guiding the blade. The rear portion of the back has a razor sharp whittling edge for easy kindling, and the front heavy blade profile provides all the chopping and cutting power this style is famous for. The semi-full tang construction and full leather handle provide a sure grip in all conditions, wet or dry. Add a uniquely styled heavy leather sheath with genuine bone ornaments and a quick-release catch, and we figure this one's going to be tough to beat for a specialized hunting/camping knife.

Overall length: 307mm - 12"
Blade length: 180mm - 7"

The Death Adder™

Now available: The Death Adder™

With the power and chopping ability pretty well covered by the Outback™ and Red Rock Raptor™, we turned our attention to speed. We set out to create the flat out fastest and best handling fighting knife we could come up with, with just the right balance and reach to compromise nothing. The result is the new Death Adder™ - like its reptilian namesake, capable of delivering a devastating strike in the blink of an eye. The Australian Death Adder can strike, deliver its venom and go back to strike position in 0.15 seconds, and with this dagger a properly trained knife fighter won't be far behind.

The full tang 440C construction and uniquely contoured solid ebony grip makes the Death Adder™ exceptionally strong and easy to handle in either hand, in any position. We consulted martial arts experts and hunters to find just the right blade dimensions to reach what needs to be reached with no sacrifices in speed and agility. The genuine leather scabbard is also thick and rigid enough to guarantee the blade can be accessed instantly without binding or snagging. Just like with the Bush Dagger™, the securing strap comes off in the same fluid motion you use to grab the dagger, and the positioning of the belt loop guarantees the scabbard will not flex or follow.

Overall length: 270mm - 10 1/2"
Blade length: 150mm - 6"
Thickness: 5,5mm - .2"

Red Rock Raptor™

Attacking now: Red Rock Raptor™ - the ultimate woodsman's companion.

When the Outback™ came out, it was quite possibly the hardest hitting Bowie knife you could buy without going to a custom bladesmith. We were pretty happy about being able to put that much chopping power in a conventional size blade, but of course it would only be a matter of time before somebody topped it. This got us thinking... if it was possible without going totally impractical, why weren't we already doing it?

Well, after several months of design work and prototyping, we believe we have done just that. The design of the Red Rock Raptor™ borrows elements from the legendary Kukri to get the raw speed and power necessary to chop through more or less anything that could conceivably need chopping through. The angle and width of the tip provides a natural stabbing point, while the smooth convex/concave transition of the edge gives you the durability of an axe and the sharpness and control of a whittling knife - both right where you need them, without detracting anything from each other.

Finally, you know how some otherwise great Bowies, Kukris and Machetes kinda force you to hold back a little so your hand won't slip? Yeah, we hate that too. That's why the Red Rock Raptor™ has an ergonomically contoured 100% leather handle and generous handguards on both ends. You can pound with the pommel, stab with the point, whittle with the base of the blade, chop with the convex edge and hack with the bonecrusher spine as hard and fast as you are physically able to. The wide, smoothly rounded handguards will protect your fingers from impact and make sure the knife stays glued to your hand, no matter what you do. Don't let the aggressive look fool you; this knife was built to work as great as it looks. We believe that in a successful design, form and function should not compete but complement each other.

Overall length: 15 1/2” Blade length 10 1/4”
Blade thickness: 5,5mm
Weight 690g / 24.3 oz

The Bush Dagger™

Now available: The Bush Dagger™ - the ultimate backup. We wanted to design a push dagger with a difference, and as far as we're concerned, this is as good as it gets. The unique blade design provides maximum penetration and cutting power, while the solid ebony handle and generous finger space allow positive control even when wearing gloves. We also wanted to get rid of the snagging and binding sheaths commonly seen on this type of knife, so we gave it a rock solid heavy leather belt scabbard. Worn on the small of the back, simply disengage the retaining strap in the same fluid motion you use to grab the handle and the knife is in your hand - in practically no time, every time. We figured when you need one of these, you seriously don't want to spend precious seconds fighting your knife first.

Don't get us wrong. We believe stamped steel, nylon and paracord can be absolutely great for many applications. But when you reach for a push dagger, we believe you'll be much happier with something more solid and traditional. That's why we built it every bit as strong as the Kookaburra™ and Outback™ - even the scabbard is made of the same thick stitched leather. The ebony handle is fully contoured to fit a wide range of hands without twisting or biting into your skin, and the ample grip it provides means the only real way to separate you from your knife is to ask politely. You'll also notice the complete absence of boot clips and gimmicks, because we just couldn't see you bending over to roll up your pants when the situation calls for getting it out in a hurry. It's a traditional design because traditions tend to arise out of things that work.

The Bush Dagger™ is quite simply the biggest, strongest and fastest push dagger we have ever seen. And we have seen quite a few.

The Kookaburra™

The Kookaburra™ throwing / hunting / utility knife

The Kookaburra™ 440C stainless blade is heat treated to approximately RC52 to withstand the stress of repeated impacts - yet it still maintains a sharp edge so it can be used as a proper utility knife, unlike most throwers on the market today. Sharp enough to cut like any good hunting knife, heavy enough to chop like a full-size Bowie, and resilient enough to withstand continuous throwing practice, this blade is truly as versatile as they come.

Jack of all trades though it might be, make no mistake... there's absolutely nothing halfway about this knife. We started by designing the best throwing knife we could think of, then gave it a touch of the classic Outback™ bowie profile and an edge that compromises nothing in terms of sharpness, edge retention or utility value. This knife has just about all the features we've ever liked on a fixed blade knife, with none of the shortcomings that so often let an otherwise perfect blade down. In case you can't tell yet, yes we bloody well are excited about it. Try one and we'll pretty much guarantee you will be too.

After all, what could be better than finally being able to carry a single knife for any purpose you could think of? The way we figured it, the answer was obvious: carrying two. That's why the Kookaburra™ comes as a set of two in a patterned heavy leather sheath that takes up no more valuable belt space than any quality hunting knife.

The Outback™

The Outback™ features a forged, dual heat treated 440C stainless blade honed to a razor sharp edge. The back retains some spring to it while the edge has been made hard enough to withstand hundreds or thousands of cuts with no perceptible dulling. This is not a wall hanger - we set out to create the most devastatingly effective Bowie knife ever produced, and designed every detail like we mean it. Hack, slash, chop, cut, crush... This is one blade that will never let you down. We believe in putting our money where our mouth is, so we back this claim with a full five-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

The handle is skillfully crafted out of genuine ebony, leather and brass with an ultra-strong tang that will not twist or break in heavy use.

The solid, bead blasted brass handguard and pommel complete the distinctive look. The Outback™ is truly both a great example of the knifemaker's art as well as the most rugged, dependable tool an outdoorsman could wish for.

The Outback™ comes with a genuine heavy leather sheath patterned to resemble crocodile skin. The sheath features an integral retaining boot for the included high quality sharpening spike.
